about me

I am a freelance lexicographer based in Cape Town, South Africa, with 18 years of experience in both practical and theoretical lexicography. I specialise in pedagogical lexicography but have experience in other areas of lexicography and general publishing.

I have a Master’s degree and a PhD in Lexicography, which have equipped me with an academic foundation to my practical work. My research has primarily focused on South African school dictionaries, an area that I am particularly passionate about. Through my work, I aim to enhance the accessibility and usability of dictionaries to improve the literacy rates of South African primary school learners, while encouraging a love for language and learning.

Over the years, I have gained experience in general lexicography, bilingual lexicography, and electronic lexicography, as a compiler, project manager, editor, and proofreader. This diverse experience has honed my skills and enabled me to contribute effectively to various dictionary projects. I am available for freelance dictionary work and am eager to collaborate on new projects.

I am a member of Afrilex, The African Association for Lexicography, and am currently serving on the Board.
